VUEM: abnormally large SQL error log file

Description

SQL error log files for the instance in which the VUEM database is hosted are flooded with errors resembling the following:

The query notification dialog on conversation handle '[]' closed due to the following error: '<Error xmlns="schemas.microsoft.com/SQL/ServiceBroker/Error">
-8470

Remote service has been dropped.
</Error>'.

The query notification dialog on conversation handle '[]' closed due to the following error: '<Error xmlns="schemas.microsoft.com/SQL/ServiceBroker/Error">
-8490

Cannot find the remote service '[]' because it does not exist.
</Error>'.

Cause and Resolution

This is caused by a bug with SQL Server itself. To resolve this issue, please first check that you have installed the relevant SQL Server hotfix per the following Microsoft support article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958006/en-us

Once the relevant hotfix is installed (or if you already have SQL 2008 R2 or later), you can use the SQL trace flag 4133 to hide these error messages. To enable this trace flag:

1. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager

2. Under SQL Server Services, right-click the SQL Server service for the relevant SQL instance, then go to Properties > Advanced

3. Under Startup Parameters, add the following at the very end of the line: ;-T4133

4. Restart the SQL service.
